Practice of Science

The Practice of Science is a 1-unit course that serves as a comprehensive introduction to the professional world of research. Designed specifically for CSEP scholars in the Spring before their summer programs begin, the curriculum moves beyond technical skills to address the whole scientist. Students will explore how research operates within academia and the broader community, while connecting with professionals who have built successful careers in science and engineering. The course places a heavy emphasis on personal development; scholars will reflect on their unique strengths, clarify their career trajectories, and refine the written and oral communication skills necessary to succeed as a researcher.
